While I haven’t been there, i’ve only seen it from the outside while walking or biking, Real Estate Agent Lori Weinstein used to take her class there most years while teaching 2nd grade. • Eau Claire Express baseball games – Baseball games, especially those of the Eau Claire Express are a blast. For less than a decent seat at a MLB game, you and three of your favorite people can be right behind home plate. Admittedly, the food and beverage service for the “Box Seats” is sometimes hit or miss, albeit generally a hit. I love the convenience of not having to drive to Milwaukee or Minnesota to watch a game, and when you’re right up front, it’s every bit as fun. I take my family to several games a year and it never disappoints in terms of value and memory making.

• Train rides – I’ve seen it, and it’s not hard to find the tracks, I just haven’t been on a train.
• Kayaking and fishing

• Horseshoes – The Park has a few rinks you can play at.

Why visit in fall:

• Football games at Carson Park Stadium. As someone who has photographed Memorial High School Football games, it’s one of the best times at the park.
• Scenic walking trails with autumn colors. For those thinking of taking a drive north to catch the fall colors, a walk through Carson Park is not only easier, everyone, not just the passenger gets to fully enjoy the beautiful color changes. Plus, you’ll have time to catch a movie afterwards without feeling dead tired driving your date back to Menomonie while being asked if “you like those types of Movies?” (Pro tip, maybe the movie 7 isn’t the most romantic movie to take someone early in the dating relationship).
• Crisp, comfortable outdoor conditions with a quick bite of food or ice cream not far away.

• Ice fishing on Half Moon Lake – I can’t say I went ice fishing on Half Moon, but I see others out there freezing and if that’s your thing, I do hear it’s good fishing.
• Snow-covered walking paths – The walking paths are enjoyable year round, although I prefer summer.
• Quiet, scenic views – For such a central park within Eau Claire, Carson Park truly is large enough to enjoy in peace most of the time.

Tips for Visiting Carson Park Eau Claire WI

Parking

There is ample parking throughout the park and most of the time, it’s easy to find parking. However, this park when an event is going on, can fill up quickly. This is especially true during sporting events like football games or festivals. During some of the festivals, some of the parking is used for rides and vendors, making the parking even tighter. If you’re willing to walk a ways, park outside of the official parking. This is true for finding a parking spot, but exiting after an event can feel like forever as well. Most people pour out onto Menomonie Street, which causes a serious bottleneck that can be avoided by parking over by the shopping area of MeNoMonie Pawn. It’s a short walk over, and a fast exit when leaving at the same time as everyone else.
